Living at Beach Delight
Our 1 bedroom, 1 bath beachfront home is a duplex with the owners living in the next door unit. Beach Delight has WIFI and an Ethernet capability should you want to connect with Ethernet wire.
The large master bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed with convenient bedside tables. Plus there as plenty of drawer and closet space to store your belongings. The generously-sized bath features a walk-in shower. We provide bed linens and bath towels so no need to pack more than what you need for yourself.
If you’re in the mood to prepare meals at home, you’ll find the tools you need in the updated kitchen. Or choose to grill outside. Of course, there are plenty of dining options, both inside and out. Like most, you’ll probably make good use of the lanai table.
The clothes washer and dryer too are conveniently situated in your unit. There’s plenty of space to store your bikes and other recreation items you may bring with you.
Around Fort Myers Beach
If you just want to hang out at Beach Delight, you can sit on the deck and watch the waves roll in and the beach-goers enjoying the sea and sand. Go ahead and join them! Roll a beach chair loaded with your towel, umbrella and cooler right out to the sea’s edge. You only need to walk 10 minutes on the beach for a thrilling jet ski or parasail ride!
Times Square is a short stroll along our soft, white sandy beach. Looking to stay off the sand? You’ll find sidewalks all the way to Times Square. During peak season, catch the free open-air tram at the nearest stop, under a minute walk away, to take you all the way to Bowditch Point Park at the northernmost end of our island town. Explore the park and then take the tram back to Times Square for dinner at one of the many seaside restaurants.
You can get around on bicycles on our island. But please use extreme caution. There aren’t bicycle lanes the whole length of the island which means you’re likely to share the sidewalk with pedestrians in some places. However, that won’t be an issue if you want to head to our Island Publix grocery store. You may find taking that bike lane is the fastest way to and from the grocery store during peak times of day.
Fort Myers Beach does require bicycles be outfitted with an audible device, and front and back lights for night-time riding. I would suggest not riding bikes after dark on our island. But still plan to have your bike fully outfitted in case the need arises.
Not Too Far Away
While you’re calling Beach Delight your home base, you’ll want to plan excursions to:
- Lovers Key State Park (bring bikes, rent kayaks, walk trails, enjoy the beach)
- Sanibel Island (rent bikes there, go shelling on the beaches, dine some place new)
- Naples (explore Naples Beach Pier and shop and dine on 5th Ave)
- The Everglades for an airboat tour!
You may want to boat down to the Florida Keys on the Key West Express that leaves from our neighboring island, San Carlos Island. The boat returns in the evening, but maybe you’ll choose to stay in the Keys one night to get the full experience.
Property Notes
We (your landlords) share our beachside pool with you. Please note that we do not allow your visitors into the pool area. Should you want to get together with friends in a swimming pool setting, Bay Oaks Recreation Center offers a public pool you can use.
