Beach Theater is currently closed as of May 2022!
The theater has been sold and the new owners are planning renovations. It’s rumored that they will re-open in the future, but with few movie screens and a full-service restaurant.

The Fort Myers Beach Theater is closer to the southern end of Estero Island on Fort Myers Beach, Florida and just a few miles from our Beach Delight vacation rental. The structure will grab your attention. Only in a beach town will you see a pink flamingo-colored theater on piers over a ground-level parking area. This was my first dinner-and-movie theater and I was impressed.
Fort Myers Beach Theater is a very intimate multi-screen theater. The small carpeted lobby is dimly lit to set the mood. Big cushioned chairs beckoned us to sit while we waited for the theater to open.
Andy and I always get popcorn at the movies. This time, we munched on our appetizer popcorn in the lobby until we were directed to the theater.
Dinner and Full Bar
The Fort Myers Beach Theater offers lots of dinner and beverage options before and while watching the movie. I was surprised that the menu prices were on par with or even slightly less than other nearby restaurants. We appreciated the theater adding a 15% gratuity for our server to the bill automatically. When you’re paying in the darkness of the theater, it’s nice to have the details addressed. (Adding a little extra is always appreciated.)
I ordered the Roasted Tomato Pesto Flatbread and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The house Cabernet Sauvignon I chose was a fantastic accompaniment.
I never thought to ask if they serve food outside the theaters, but I would definitely love to stop back especially to savor the delectable flatbread.
Although Andy said his pizza wasn’t something to rave about, he enjoyed his dinner too.
If you’re not looking for dinner, the theater offers 20 regular theater seats on the floor. Then counter seating for 8 people on the same level as the theater entrance. A couple of dinner tables with rolling seats are on a platform one step higher. Andy and I chose the counter seating so we had space to spread our food and drink while watching the movie. Even those not ordering a meal seemed to favor the dining seats over the regular theater seats.
We were very comfortable in our seats for the duration or our 2 hour and 15 minute movie. I didn’t even realize it was that long! I’m thinking that a dinner theater is the way to go now.
